A pendant made from a heart-shaped piece of Fordite with a Sterling Silver setting.
Fordite, often called 'Detroit Agate', is a fascinating man-made material created from successive layers upon layers of automotive paint from the days when cars were spray-painted by hand. The paint built up on the rails used to move the cars around the factory, hardened over time and was removed in solid chunks. When cut and polished, the hardened paint reveals vibrant, swirling psychedelic patterns, making each piece a truly one-of-a-kind gem often crafted into stunning jewellery.
Fordite is becoming increasingly hard to buy and expensive.
The mount of the pendant has a cut out back, which shows the beauty of the reverse side.
