Landfill to Luxe

Head over to the Savernake Knives website to buy this collection

My friends over at Savernake Knives make amazing and unique knives using a fusion of cutting-edge technology and good old fashioned skill and craftsmanship.

They make their knife handles from a wide range of materials including resin; traditional woods; composite striped woods; through to recycled or eco-friendly materials such as Richlite, Corian and Durat

At the end of the handle-making process there are inevitably off-cuts of material that can't be used and that would have otherwise gone to landfill.

They give some of that material to me. I hand cut and polish it into cabochons and combine it with recycled Stirling Silver to create truly one of a kind pieces of jewellery.

Waste transformed into treasure

The first release of this collaboration is now available on the Savernake Knives website. The material I'm using is inspired by a process inspired by Fordite . The team at Savernake collect excess resin into troughs and buckets as part of the handle making process - creating distinctive and unique layers of material.

Savernake use the majority of this excess material to make their amazing Stratus range of knives and provide me with the odd bits and pieces they can't use.

So, in this case, I'm using waste from waste!
